Well, first of all I have to say that the pictures were very strange and daunting, but also kind of interesting and informative about the life in New York.

The most fascinating part of the exhibition was the series of pictures by Nan Goldin with the model called James King.

It shows how difficult it could be living as a VIP in New York.

The VIP’s aren’t just happy and successful, they also have to fight against depressions and problems and other things like that.  So they take drugs or drink alcohol to feel better and to forget their worries.  But the pictures shows that they have friends and be happy as well.

In one moment, the model looks very nice and beautiful but on the next picture she looks nasty and totally unoriented. This is realistic,  but also horrific.

In my opinion Thomas Effing is neither a good man nor a monster.  He is a difficult person with a strange attitude towards life, but I wouldn’t suggest that he is a monster.

I think he likes proofing his conversational partner in detail, for example whether he is on the same intelectual level then he is and isn’t disgusted about the things he says or makes.  Maybe he made bad experiences with young students or people who had to care for him or other men in his life.So he began to speak in a sarcastic way and began to insult the people. With this reaction it is easier to find out whether an applicant really wants the job or just wants to do a relaxing job or something like that.  So it is hardly possible to suggest that he would be a good man.

I believe that Thomas Effing is just a broken soul who is suspiciously and cautious towards humans, but I don’t think that these character traits make him beeing a  monster.

After 11th september 2001 the world changes. Often the people expect after a disaster first of all a terrorist attack or a terroristic background. If you want to travel by air the control on the airports become stronger and the people censor other people looking like moslems or inhabitants from an eastern country.

The people have become fearful and as it was said in the text, the history was splitted into ‘before’  and ‘after’.

I  must admit that before the terror attack I hardly recognized terrorism or terroristic constitutions. Now I know, how present it is in the world. ´

But not only my knowledge  has become widened, but also my opinion about the USA. The USA wants to find The ,,chief” of terrorism.Osama Bin Laden. They wanted to demonstrate , that they react and be able to fight against terrorism, but I disbelieve that the war in the Iraq is a good and real sign for strength and power and that they will kill or find Osama Bin Laden that way.

In my opinion the whole world changes after 11th september, because the people’s sensation changes in reference to terrorism and America. No one could travel by air without thinking of the Twin Towers, no one could hear ‘Iraq’ without thinking of war.

I want to write a post about the song ‘Where is the love’ by The Black Eyed Peace.

In my opinion it is very important to point out the main idea of the real American Dream and that’s for me to live together with love, peace and tolerance and only if the people do so they would achieve prosperity and hapiness. But in reality the song shows us and especially the americans that the AD is really just a dream because they and we are just humans with human characteristics which are sadly that we are not always tolerant or loving and a few humans are not able too clarify something without starting a war..

It is nearly impossible to make the most people clear that beeing Arnold Schwarzenegger or Madonna who achieves beeing rich and famous is a very superficial way of the American Dream. I don’t thing that they are really happy and satisfied with their life just because of prospertity and prominence.
I like that the Black Eyed Peace are very honestly and just named facts about the situation in the USA and all over the world. They don’t exaggerate but simply tell us what they see and feel. That is very important because in my opinion it is the first step to change something in the people’s mind and the opinion about the American Dream.

I know it’s a bit late but I had several problems with opening my blog, so, sry for that:P
